I don’t quite get the idea of a fairy garden that cannot be touched, although I do consider myself a bit of a control freak. There is something truly magical about Fairy Gardens! All those itsy-bitsy pieces, charming tiny houses, colorful mushrooms and pebbles, beautiful fairies & gnomes, you name it! I’m pretty sure I love setting them up as much as kids love playing with them. I usually let a child do it with a toothpick right before he/she gets creative. Also, don’t forget to write the name of the child & the date on the back of it while clay is still wet. Clay bowls take about 2 days to dry but you don’t have to spray those if they’ll be staying indoors. After everything dries (1-2 days) I sprayed coasters, pots, & saucers with the sealant outside, which usually dries within hours. We basically had to sink seeds in glue when we did the saucer art. If working with seeds – make sure lots of Mod Podge is used. We did glitter before covering projects with glue as well.
When your child is satisfied with the arrangement, let them carefully cover the whole piece (up to the edges) with the Mod Podge & gently sprinkle glitter on top. With clay pots & saucers, you might want to cover the area with the Mod Podge first, in order for the seeds & flowers to stick better to them.
